What do English Tests Consist of?

Do you want to live or study abroad? Want to score as many points as possible in the OET exam? OET test preparation vancouver is here for you to help you make your dreams come true.

Are you just finishing your studies and want to study at an American university for the last year? Or are you generally interested in studying in the US? Would you like an internship or summer job abroad, especially in countries where English is the official language? You applied for a visa and want to live abroad?

If you have been asking and trying to gather as much information as possible on the prerequisites for living and studying outside Croatia, you must have heard about OET and CELTA, standardized English tests. Both exams are evidence of the level of English proficiency; they are required to enroll in English-speaking universities, and while some universities seek OET certification, others (most US colleges and universities) require CELTA.

Each of these tests is an internationally recognized, standardized English language proficiency test for speakers who are not native speakers of English. They test your knowledge and understanding through reading, writing, listening and speaking skills. It is important to note that you cannot fall, but you can only collect a certain number of points. The more points you have at the end of the test, the more you are considered to be the speaker.

The test is taken on the Internet (Internet-Based Test) and the results are evaluated by a group of three to six experts, making it an objective test of language proficiency.

The exam results are internationally recognized and are valid for two years. Why only two years, you wonder? Language is like any skill, knowledge is dying if not used regularly and not updated, and with regular repetition and adoption of new material and information, it grows and improves. The test assesses your current English language skills, and it is therefore recommended that you take the exam only when you are confident in your knowledge and when you have practiced how to complete the test, which is highly helpful by professionally educated English teachers.

If you are not sure if you need help preparing for the exam, look at what the exam looks like and consider whether you can successfully pass the exam without repeating.

Understanding – read texts

Reading and comprehension skills consist of three to five 700-word texts, followed by questions. The tests are related to history, geography, psychology, physics; ie. all spheres of social and natural sciences, because it is not interested in your knowledge of everyday speech, but whether, for example, you are able to follow lectures in college and take notes from them. You get 20 minutes for each text, which means that the exam is written 60 to 100 minutes, depending on the number of texts. As it is written on the computer, your clock is counting down the minutes and there is no extension of the response time.
