The expense of a dui can vary based on where you live. Your car insurance will go up and stay up for around 13 years, giving you thousands in extra costs. A lawyer can cost upwards of $4,000 or more. And, on top of that, you have to deal with legal fees and everything else in between. There are estimates that the overall incident (fees, increases, and all) could cost between $50,000 and $75,000 dollars when all is said and done, depending on how many DUIs that you have had in the past.

If you didn’t already have a reason to avoid a DUI, financial reasons are probably a decent consideration as well. It costs a lot more than many people can afford, and it can make your daily life that much more difficult to work through, too.
