If travelling is your passion, your budget shouldn’t stop you from pursuing it! There are plenty of beautiful places in India where you can vacation with very little money and still get to enjoy naturally-rich surroundings, admire lovely architectures and savour tasty but affordable food. All you have to do is buy a cheap Indian Railway train ticket to one of these destinations and make a smart plan.

Goa – beach, sun and fun

Head to North Goa if you love partying or to South Goa if you love serenity and nature’s beauty. Popular beaches like Baga, Anjuna, Palolem, and Calangute have cheap shacks to make your stay easy and exciting, without having to waste money on a hotel. You will easily get cheap beer and delicious street food at surprising prices in Goa. Moreover, you can do so much for free, like taking a stroll along the beach, going for a swim, watching the sunset, and hiring a bike to explore more. Goa also has many flea markets where you can shop for clothes, trinkets and souvenirs for very less.     

Alleppey – Houseboats, backwaters and peace

Kerala’s backwaters are extremely calm with a lush beauty of their own. And all you have to do to enjoy these is head to Alleppey, hire a houseboat at a very low price and enjoy the gorgeous and dense greenery all around you. Beautiful canals, lagoons, and the picturesque Alappucha Beach will take your breath away. Ooty – Green hills, chocolate and great weather

Pushkar – Holy vibes, camel rides, and beautiful temples

This sacred town in Rajasthan sees countless pilgrims every year who come to bathe in the Pushkar Lake from any of the 52 ghats. The Brahma Temple here was built in the 14th century and is a beautiful piece of architecture that deserves your attention. You can get both cheap accommodation and food in Pushkar easily and the fun camel rides are also affordable. And if you are up for it, sip on the famous Bhaang Lassi here and feel at peace.  

Darjeeling – Stunning Himalayas and famous tea

Admiring the majestic Mt. Kanchenjunga while sipping on some aromatic and refreshing Darjeeling tea is more affordable than you think! This beautiful town will charm you with its tea plantations, friendly people, the quaint Toy Train and affordable hotels. You can catch a bus to Mirik as well when you are here and enjoy lovely orchards, gardens and the serene Mirik Lake. Shopping can be done for cheap if you are good at bargaining.

Amritsar – Sacred, peaceful and beautiful Golden Temple

This holy city in Punjab is just 28 km from India’s border with Pakistan. The Golden Temple in its architectural splendour is surely the highlight of this city, and you can find cheap lodging and food near to it.
