Guglielmo Marconi invented the first radio prototype in 1894 to help ships communicate at sea. Instead of voices, radio operators had to use morse code to communicate.

The Beginning of Commercial Radio Industry

In the 1920s the first radio broadcasts aimed at consumers hit the air. Music lovers all over the country could tune in and listen at the same time.
